There's something very appealing about broken holy things [Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans]. In my head, this seems appropriate...as if Jesus is so busy with compassion and mercy that he has no time to scrub himself up and look all shiny. Maybe I'm just superimposing my humanness...or maybe it's because he superimposed his deity-ness that he's allowed to look so broken. Food for thought, friends.
