Yes, I have finally seen the new feature-length Pride and Prejudice. And yes, I love, I love, I love it. *Sigh* My goodness, I waited long enough because I was so sure I'd hate the film compared to the book and the miniseries (Colin Firth, enough said). But Friday night I finally decided I'd waited long enough, so I rented it...the last copy they had at the store.
Saturday I had the house all to myself, so I took the morning off from writing and watched it...twice. I curled up on the couch, turned up the volume, and fell absolutely in love with the way Joe Wright adapted Jane Austen's work. The film was absolutely beautiful...incredible shots and light play...and just so full of longing. The characters were so human and so much like a real family, and I couldn't help but love it all.
I think I've officially read the book about 27 times, and I still get a flutter in my stomach when Mr. Darcy proposes to Elizabeth, and then when she meets him at Pemberley, and especially in the end when they finally admit their love for one another...and I felt that same flutter watching the film. Mr. Darcy just might be every girl's dream man. Thank you, Jane Austen. Thank you , Joe Wright. You both amaze me.
